Many guides recommend Pip as a starting hero. Indeed, he helps level up Laws faster and provides a strong economic boost at the beginning of the game. But if we are talking about a hero who will stay with you until the final battle, it is worth paying attention to a true fighter - Lord Edgar.

We will love him for the skill "True Lord". All creatures in the army receive a bonus of 10% of his Attack and Defense, and then an additional 5% for every 6 hero levels. That is, by the final battle, when the hero is about level 30 and has around 25-35 Attack and Defense, the entire army will receive an additional 35% of these stats. In practice, this is roughly +10 to Attack and +10 to Defense for each creature. This is a huge advantage that helps in literally every battle.

The most important thing is that this skill becomes stronger as the hero develops. Many starting bonuses gradually lose their value, while "True Lord" on the contrary constantly strengthens. The longer the game lasts, the greater the advantage Lord Edgar gains.

It is also worth noting that from the start he has 2 Attack and 3 Defense. This makes the army a bit stronger from the first battles and allows for more confident map clearing.

Another advantage of the hero is that he has no useless skills. We immediately get Advanced Righteousness, and as a sub-skill we take +10% to Attack and -10% to damage taken. This is another serious army boost, making the hero very strong both in the early game and in its final stage.

Moreover, Lord Edgar scales well with artifacts. Any found item that gives Attack or Defense strengthens not only the hero himself but also his entire army through "True Lord". Therefore, the value of such artifacts for him is noticeably higher than for most other heroes.

If you need the strongest start with fast Law development, Pip remains an excellent choice. But if you are choosing one universal hero for the entire game, who becomes stronger with each level and wins the toughest final battles, then the Temple has no better candidate than Lord Edgar.
