DON'T STRAIN FOR HIGH NOTES

Very often in my social media or during vocal diagnostics, when I ask students what vocal problems they think they have, I hear the phrase "I can't reach high notes."

And I immediately conclude that the person either has no experience or very little experience with vocal lessons. Because a professional teacher would never give the task of "reaching a high note."

And there are two reasons for this:

🔹 First, hitting a high note (for example, during a warm-up) is only half the battle. You'll only be able to use it in songs if it sounds beautiful. So there's no point in being happy if you just "reached" it; the goal is to sing it beautifully and consistently.

🔹 Second, working with high notes is not based on the "reaching" method at all. Typically, a concentric method is used: first, we confidently master the desired sound production mode in the middle of the range, and only then do we move upward step by step (without pushing ourselves or squeezing the last drops out of the vocal apparatus).

Therefore, my main advice for mastering new vocal heights is to be patient, listen to your body, and learn proper technique, rather than just trying to "reach" at any cost.
