First of all, the organization was just mind-blowing, something to frame and hang on the wall as a model for other markets. I'm serious, there was absolutely nothing to complain about on my part, everything was on some heavenly level. Of course, I saw that there were some minor complaints from various authors in the chat, but overall it didn't seem like anything major, just small flaws in my opinion, because nothing can be perfect, right? xD
Secondly, I even managed to break even! Not much, of course, for the table itself plus I ended up 2-3 thousand in profit, but that's just something cosmic for me. Remember, I wrote that I was going there just to get some fresh air and chat, and I didn't expect a single sale, because who would want to buy an unfamiliar comic with questionable art in the prologue? Well, by the end of the day, I had almost run out of prologues and all of the first chapter, specifically about 7-8 books that I brought with me 😱 I'm totally shocked, plus a lot of people came up and listened with genuine interest about the plot, the characters, flipped through, asked questions, A LOT of people praised, not a single person said a critical word out loud, just praise and compliments, some even came back to the table several times (!!) and also actively showed their own comics or sketches, and it was so cool, oh my god 😫 Also, a lot of people just took a photo of the link and subscribed to the VK public page, for which I'm also very grateful! Next market, I'll definitely make business cards xDD I just didn't expect such interest.
Unfortunately, I was alone without an assistant, so I didn't have time to take photos or wander around to other authors. I really regret that now, there were so many beautiful things in the photos, and such beautiful and vibe-y people walking around the market! I sat and stared, didn't have time to give compliments xD
Special highlights:
- someone very cool, a fan of Korcha-Porcha, recognized me by face for the second time at Smerch and brought a cool paper fanart as a gift!
- someone also bought my handmade trinkets like a Freak-style brooch!
- my best friend didn't forget to come by, cheered me up, went to get merch for me, and even helped me pack up after the market, love you dude!
- I found a very old friend from D&D sessions, managed to recognize my scruffy face and Shera on the postcards, made me incredibly happy))
- several people had already read or seen the comic online ❤️
There was a lot more positive stuff, but my brain refuses to output that much information and impressions at once, so here's what I remembered off the top of my head XDD Now I definitely plan to participate in such events again.
P.S. Everyone I promised to give useful links for comic creators — write to me in private messages, as agreed! I'll definitely send everything!
