In January–June 2026, Russia produced 15.44 million decaliters (dal) of still wine and 6.16 million dal of sparkling wine, according to data from Rosalkogoltobakcontrol (RATC).
Year-on-year, the figures decreased by 12.6% and 14%, respectively.

The Russian wine market is too fragmented to bring everyone to a common denominator; some are weathering the crisis relatively calmly, some have a financial cushion and are willing to wait, while others are already thinking about exiting the business everyone wants to drink juice
In any case, one cannot blame only domestic winemakers.
Over the past three years, semi-greenhouse conditions have been created for their development and sales (unfriendly duties), but the external environment has caught up with them too (especially in Crimea), so we have what we have.
I am very afraid that this will create a reason for even higher duties, and some heroes of the article propose duties even on friendly countries, but one must always remember that wine is too diverse a product; buyers want variety, which cannot be provided by the terroirs of a single country (that is partly why the market is falling in absolute terms).
And it is important to leave an incentive for domestic producers to self-develop, work on marketing, costs, etc.
