Startups often make this mistake. They think Apple succeeded because the product was revolutionary, people talked about it on their own, and an ordinary garage startup conquered the world!
In reality, it's just a beautiful brand legend. Steve Jobs benefited from maintaining this myth, because it sounds more salesy than
"I went to dozens of factories and everyone turned me down, nobody wanted to deal with me, an unknown person with a pile of hardware that was supposed to become something groundbreaking. Until by chance I found an investor who simply believed in my confidence."
What would I do if I could go back 3 years?
I would create a proper business plan that includes marketing, audience acquisition, and engagement. So I wouldn't have to reinvent the wheel from scratch while everything is on fire in the "workshop."
😀 If this isn't planned in advance, you'll find you've built an amusement park with no visitors.
✅ It sounds so simple and obvious, but even companies with tens of millions in funding stumble on this step. From personal experience.
