In Vladivostok, a 12-year-old boy was urgently taken to the hospital on Pervaya Rechka after vomiting blood. Doctors at the Regional Children's Clinical Hospital No. 1 linked this to the teenager drinking a lot of cola.

The child was brought to the department and underwent an endoscopy. Endoscopist Margarita Lemza said that the gastric mucosa was in such a condition that even a light touch with the endoscope immediately caused minor hemorrhages. According to the doctor, the boy already had predispositions to erosive gastritis, and cola worsened the situation.

Now the teenager will have to undergo long-term treatment and be monitored by a gastroenterologist. The doctor added that with a healthy stomach, a rupture may not occur, but with gastrointestinal diseases, such experiments can end badly. She reminded that cola contains orthophosphoric acid, which is used to dissolve rust, and if prone to gastritis, it can lead to erosions and bleeding.
