Primorsky Oceanarium showed how belugas sleep. Staff said that Miy and Neil can even doze on their backs. Their sleep is short, about five minutes, in between training sessions.

In the wild, belugas usually sleep while drifting horizontally or vertically in the water. During this time, one hemisphere of the brain turns off, then the other. This way, the beluga does not lose vigilance and does not forget to surface to take a breath.

In the dolphinarium, as explained by the oceanarium's press service, belugas feel safe and sleep however they like.
