From today, a law banning foreign words on signs has come into effect. In Primorye, entrepreneurs who have not had time to prepare face fines of up to 10,000 rubles and dismantling.

Since March 1, the main text on signs, websites, and apps must be in Russian. Foreign languages are allowed only as an equivalent translation or if there is a registered trademark.

The requirement for Russian applies to signs and names of objects, signs inside buildings and on the territory, operating hours, price tags and information about promotions, rules for providing services, as well as signs like "open" and "closed", "cashier", "entrance" and "exit".

Violators will be fined up to 10,000 rubles. The sign may be ordered to be removed.

The rule does not apply to those who already have a registered trademark in English. Some companies will continue to operate under the same brand, but some signs from this list will still have to be replaced.
