The service Free Public APIs contains a decent regularly updated collection of free APIs. From basic currency exchange rates and weather to more specific things: phishing checks, face recognition, anime databases, and flight data.

It's convenient that the site checks the status of each API. If a service goes down or turns into a pumpkin, it loses its rating and drops out of the results.

For pet projects and junior training — a must-have.
