🔥 Russia in Antarctica. Plans for 2026–2028

The wintering team will include 113 people, and during seasonal research the total number of Russian polar explorers may increase to 120.

🚢 The research vessels "Akademik Fedorov" and "Akademik Tryoshnikov" will be used for uninterrupted delivery of necessary cargo to scientists.

The construction of a new vessel, "Ivan Frolov", is planned. Its commissioning will not only expand cargo delivery capabilities but also allow for regular waste removal.

Such work is one of the requirements of international conventions and treaties regulating activities in Antarctica.
ℹ️ Currently, there are 5 permanent stations in Antarctica: Progress, Mirny, Vostok, Novolazarevskaya, and Bellingshausen.

Also, work is carried out at 5 seasonal field bases: Druzhnaya-4, Molodyozhnaya, Leningradskaya, Banger Oasis, and Russkaya.

Russian polar explorers will have at least 2 helicopters, as well as one aircraft each on wheeled and ski landing gear.
