Indian startup Sarvam has launched a new AI chat application Indus for web and mobile devices, aiming to compete with global players like ChatGPT, Claude, and Google Gemini in India's rapidly growing AI market. Sarvam seeks to create a homegrown, Indian alternative to global AI platforms and reduce dependence on foreign AI services.
In short, the battle for the Indian market has begun. Not surprisingly, for instance, as many as 100 million Indians use ChatGPT, and 5.8% of all Claude usage comes from India.
