Before that, I had repeatedly tried to maintain a blog. I would start — and then quit. Over and over again. Nothing worked: I tried to negotiate with myself, made public declarations, scolded myself every time a slump hit.
It was only when I started writing every day that the process took off. At first, it was external motivation because the rules in the challenge were quite strict: miss a day — get a fine, don't pay the fine — get kicked out.
But day by day, external motivation turned into a habit. Over time, I no longer needed to check my planner — I already remembered that I needed to write a post every day. No matter what happened, wherever I was — the post was mandatory.
My longest streak lasted 85 days. But when it suddenly broke, I felt no bitterness or disappointment. I lost the streak, but not the habit. So I just started a new one the next day.
Now I write in a freer and more convenient format for myself. But the main thing is that I'm no longer afraid of abandoning the blog. Moreover, last year I also started making videos on YouTube.
The power of small steps is drastically underestimated. Through this example, I finally understood — to succeed at something, you just need to keep moving forward.
Little by little, but consistently.
