🌈 MTS tested a flying mobile communication station

In the Saratov region, MTS launched a pilot project of a mobile communication station placed on an aerostat.

This is the first such initiative in the country. It is communication for hard-to-reach territories where building stationary base stations is impossible or impractical.

Testing in the city of Volsk. The device was held by cables at an altitude of 300 meters. The radio module distributed communication via LTE 2100 MHz standard. Internet speeds up to 30 Mbps were recorded within a radius of 10 km.

The structure withstands wind gusts up to 42 m/s, lightning strikes, and can stay in the sky for up to 45 days.

Cost of the complex: 30–50 million rubles)
