🔆 «Artemis II». Total Solar Eclipse

This photograph captured a total solar eclipse.

The crew observed it for an amazing 54 minutes, as the Moon completely covered the Sun from the observer's perspective.

The image shows the Sun's corona as a "halo around the dark lunar disk" (NASA explanation).

The crew is expected to return to Earth's atmosphere tomorrow, Friday evening.

The spacecraft will enter Earth's protective layer at a speed of 40,000 km/h. Orion's heat shield will heat up to over 1600 °C.
