🍋 // 🥛 analysis of princess carolyn

today we will analyze my favorite character from the series "bojack horseman" - princess carolyn. i see her as a combination of two arcana: justice + high priestess, and here's why

🤩 justice:
her whole life revolves around cold calculation and cause-and-effect relationships; after all, her job requires exactly that, pushing her towards workaholism instead of healthy self-reflection. although she clearly separates personal from professional: when bojack doesn't pay her commission, she sends him an invoice, even while having romantic feelings for him.
she constantly weighs everything around her: actions, useful connections, contracts, opportunities (except for the contract with bojack, where she doesn't abandon him and tries to prove her "usefulness" through help). plus, she always tries to speak facts to people's faces, no matter how cruel it may be.

🤩 high priestess:
she knows everything: from the secrets of various celebrities she works with to random conversations overheard at a restaurant during a business dinner. she doesn't speak, but keeps it in mind and knows how to use it (not for evil, but still). she tends to withdraw into herself, experience emotions internally, and never show where she feels bad, where it hurts, or when it's unbearable. this leads to a full retreat from reflection and analysis of personal life into hyperfixation on work and maintaining the image of "i am self-sufficient and handle everything on my own." also during the show itself, we see that she becomes disappointed several times when she trusts someone and that trust is betrayed, forcing her to internally doubt everyone and lock her feelings deep inside. but by the end of the series, she finally finds balance, establishes personal boundaries with bojack, and gets everything she so desired before.

in combination, we get a girl who is afraid of being deceived, so she puts absolutely everything that could happen on the scales and analyzes the benefit in any situation, just to not return to the starting point, but never loses faith in what she does and stops at nothing, even if she has to drown her sorrow in wine and answer work emails at three in the morning. truly a wonderful character who deserved a good ending to her storyline.
