Right after reading Deep Work, I decided to get up earlier — around 6:30 AM (sorry, night owls, for the heart attack) — so that while the rest of the world is still asleep, I can calmly work on my projects for an hour.
At the same time, I deliberately avoid checking Telegram or email in the morning, don't read news, and don't look at work tasks. In short, I try not to clutter my head with any unnecessary noise.
Usually, for the first half hour, I consume content, like reading a book. And for another half hour, I create it. For example, I write a post. On Monday and Tuesday, that's exactly what happened. In fact, you can see it from the posting times of the latest posts — 09:07 and 08:35.
However, yesterday morning I also had to go to boxing training. And it so happened that I woke up 15 minutes later, realized I had forgotten to pack my things the night before. In short, I fumbled around, and there was no time left for that
deep work."Okay, no problem, the whole day is ahead," I thought and calmly went to training. I thought I'd come back home and write a post. Or sit down to work and write after lunch. Or sit down in the evening after work and write.
As you can guess, the plan didn't work. And all because yesterday, instead of relying on a routine, I decided to rely on willpower, which let me down.
