Thanks to the SpaceX IPO, today Elon Musk became the first dollar trillionaire in history – 110 years after John Rockefeller became the first dollar billionaire in 1916.

From the perspective of its current size, SpaceX is not that big a company – its total revenue in 2025 was only $19 billion. That's roughly on par with Yandex ($17 billion) and tens of times less than Apple, Google, and other mega-tech companies. And by the way, SpaceX is a loss-making company with a -22% loss from revenue in 2025. Meanwhile, the IPO results showed how much the market believes in this company.

Let's recall what principles allowed Musk to achieve such a super result. Below are a few quotes from his interviews.

The higher your position, the more visible your presence should be. That's why I lived at the factory so much – so that you on the production line could see me working side by side with you. If I hadn't done that, Tesla would have gone bankrupt long ago. — CNBC: Elon Musk's email to Tesla tech managers

“I lived at the Fremont factory and at the one in Nevada for three years straight. That was my primary residence. I'm not kidding. Literally... I slept on the floor under the desk so that during shift changes the whole team could see me. It's important because if the team thinks their leader has gone off somewhere having a good time and drinking Mai Tai on a tropical island [it's demoralizing]” — Startup Archive.

“If you do the math: someone works 50 hours a week, and you work 100. In a year, you'll get twice as much done as another company.” — Elon Musk USC Commencement Speech Transcript.

Musk's secret: go to the office every day, work 100 hours a week, sleep under the desk.
Of course I'm joking, but the secret is really simple: Musk is a workaholic.
