if I need a calorie deficit, but I want fried potatoes, a cutlet, and chemical soda!
And how I hate sports!"
I came across this cry from the soul online and had a flashback: I used to think exactly the same way.
What's stuck in our heads?
Weight loss is when you suffer around the clock, chew on silage and all the most tasteless things + rape yourself in the gym.
With that prospect, anyone would howl!
For some reason, it's believed that the only choices are:
➡️ either eat everything you love, but then you don't lose weight;
➡️ or lose weight on chicken breast, salad, and oatmeal with water.
Although between fried potatoes and steamed broccoli, there are about a million other options.
A calorie deficit is necessary, no argument. But it's the difference between energy intake and expenditure, not a specific menu.
So you don't need to replace your favorite foods with "holy" and "correct" ones: sometimes it's enough to change their quantity and combination.
For example:
— keep fried potatoes, but don't make them the basis of every meal;
— don't replace the cutlet with a boring boiled breast, but see how much oil, bread, and sauce are added to it;
— instead of banning soda, choose a sugar-free option;
— add foods that are more satiating to your favorite meal, so you don't go for seconds an hour later.
The same goes for sports.
If you hate the gym, why drag yourself there by the scruff of the neck?
Training is necessary and beneficial, who would argue? But by itself, it is not a mandatory condition for weight loss.
You can start with just movement. You can dance, swim, or just energetically mop the floor to Meladze, for heaven's sake. Or don't touch training at all at first, but sort out your diet.
If you rely solely on willpower every day, sooner or later the potatoes, soda, and cake will win)
And it's not about hating sports or "healthy eating, oh my god", but about a poorly designed system.
A system is when weight loss adapts to your real life, not to the life of a fantasy woman who has no job, children, stress, or PMS.
This is exactly the kind of system we build in my coaching group.
Before inviting someone to the group, I have a call with them and analyze their situation. We find out what is really preventing weight loss: diet, routine, stress, habits, or all of the above in a tricky combination.
You will receive a clear action plan: what to do specifically for you.
And if the group is suitable for solving your request, I will explain how the work is organized.
I conduct such analyses while I am assembling the group; there are only 4 spots. Once the group is full, I won't have time for calls.
