"Cash Cow"

Fines on American Big Tech companies have brought more revenue to the EU budget than taxes from its own IT companies. This invites a parallel with Ayn Rand's novel "Atlas Shrugged." Let's hope it doesn't come to a "strike of the mind."

Over the past decade, the European Commission has fined tech giants, primarily American ones (Google, Apple, Meta, Amazon), a total exceeding 30 billion euros.

From a purely economic standpoint, this model benefits the EU. It allows:
1. Extracting rent from global companies whose main markets and profits are in Europe, but whose tax residences are often outside it.
2. Creating precedents that strengthen the EU's negotiating position.
3. Financing innovative and infrastructure projects using funds from external players.
