🖐 GitHub freezes Copilot registration amid rising costs of AI agents

GitHub, a subsidiary of Microsoft, has frozen new subscriptions for Copilot Pro, Pro+, and Student plans starting April 20, citing unsustainable growth in computing costs driven by AI agents for code writing.

On April 10, GitHub suspended free trials due to widespread abuse, and on April 13, it suspended all recurring trial subscriptions.
🙏 Current Pro and Pro+ subscribers dissatisfied with the changes can cancel their subscription and request a refund for April by contacting GitHub Support before May 20.

GitHub recommends switching to lighter models while a more sustainable solution is developed.
