At first, a gain of 2-3 kg seems insignificant. "It's nothing, I've lost more than that, it's a piece of cake." And those 3 kg gradually turn into 10 kg, and you keep reassuring yourself: "I'll start now, on Monday." And then bam, oh my god, I'm back where I started.
This is exactly the scenario a client who came for a consultation wanted to avoid. She had started losing weight successfully, but the kilograms were starting to pile back on. Cheese was blamed.
A kilogram of cheese could disappear in a week. Cheese is a high-calorie product, and because of it, she was exceeding her food allowance.
What was the real problem?
It would seem: just stop buying it! But no. The girl has strict health restrictions. The list of allowed foods turned out to be scarcer than the selection of decent men on Tinder.
Cheese became literally a lifesaver.
Imagine, it's always cold, nothing is allowed you live in a cold climate with little sun. And then you get a trip to the sea. You can't be dragged into the shade or pulled out of the water, right?
That's how cheese was for the client. Limiting yourself in your last joy is a special form of masochism and a path to relapse.
Of course, you could buy small portions of cheese, but that was much more expensive than buying one big piece.
💡I suggested a simple life hack to her. It's very simple.
◀️First, I asked her how much cheese she would like to eat per day. It's really important that the person themselves have clarity and specifics. Because technically, if they ate 100g of cheese a day and start eating 98g, that's less cheese. But is that what they really want?
She said she would like 30-50g.
◀️I suggested a simple scheme: buy the same piece of cheese, but immediately cut it and portion it into 30-50 gram pieces.
And it worked. She wrote to me that she bought cheese who knows when, and it still hasn't run out. As a result, her measurements started to decrease.
Working solutions often look annoyingly simple.
So much so that you either don't see them or dismiss them: "Nah, that's nonsense, it won't work." We're used to struggling through thorns and battles, otherwise the result doesn't seem to count.
But weight loss is a well-built system. And sometimes just one precise adjustment is enough to get off the dead point.
The hardest part is sometimes seeing the obvious. When you're inside the situation, your eyes get blurry and it seems like the problem is weak will or something else. Although the issue might be as simple as cutting cheese.
That's the value of working with a specialist: they can see it from the outside.
And it saves a lot of time and energy that would be spent fighting windmills😉
